Hello my name is Jo and the person behind Jo Prints. I decided to create a linocut blog as I noticed not many people knew much about printmaking. I wanted to let people know that they can create prints at home without a printing press.
I have taken a couple printmaking classes in community college. Some of the techniques I have dealt with are stencil prints, etchings, mezzotints, woodcuts, linocuts, and monoprints. My main focus were mezzotints as I am a reductive artists. As a reductive artists I work better with a charcoal covered piece of paper and erasing the lights. Mezzotints work the same way the only differences are the materials. Paper turns to a copper plate, charcoal to ink, and eraser to a varnishing tool.
I am pretty new to linocuts with only about three under my belt. Join me in my journey to learning more bout linocuts and how to decorate my home with my art.
